I am an editor with long experience of working on a wide range of illustrated information books and web and other materials. I am an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and I have been freelance since 2009.
I work on non-fiction exclusively.
I was an in-house editor within the book publishing industry for many years, creating and editing books for both adults and children. I worked at the educational publishers Macdonald Educational and Mary Glasgow Publications, among others, and spent many productive and happy years as a Senior Commissioning Editor at British Museum Press until becoming freelance in 2009. I now offer high-quality editing, proofreading and editorial consultancy services to a range of book publishing and other clients.
My (occasional) blog posts are my personal reflections on aspects of freelance life.
The Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) is a professional organisation based in the UK for editors and proofreaders – the people who strive to make text accurate and readable. (Previously the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.)
